By becoming a member of the UUFD, I’ve found a lot more than a community of people who are proud to question, love and serve all life on this planet. I’ve found greater meaning in my personal life. I feel like I’ve joined a family, one that is always going to urge me to be my best self, better than I even thought I could be. It’s an honor to be a member of this Fellowship.

I’m fairly new at the UUFD, but from the beginning I have felt at home in this community of seekers. Here, I’m not afraid to ask hard questions of myself and others about religion, morality, and our place in the universe.

The elements of a UUFD Sunday service–the music, the children’s story, the message, connecting with others–stir the emotions and intellect. The message comes not from doctrine, and not from the minister alone. We hear from the best thinkers, past and present, from every religion and philosophy, and explore principles that may be universal or controversial. (more…)

Good day! My name is Linda Gumper or Gentle Star Woman and I have been a member of the UUFD for 1 year. I had previously attended UUFD events and was a regular member of Covenent of Unitarian Universalist Pagans or CUUPS at the UUFD for 4 years. I have enjoyed CUUPS immensely, as it is a group of people from many different earth-based spiritual paths that come together in mutal respect and have a lot of fun. I started attending the UUFD regular services when (more…)

Having been involved in the Unitarian Church in Detroit and in Denver, I am very pleased to be in a place where I have a Unitarian Fellowship available to me. This is a place where I feel accepted by good people, a place where I can share my thoughts and feelings and know that they will be regarded nonjudgmentally. A place where my understanding and experience of the “spirit”, can grow and be supported in a liberal religious space. And, a place where I can give of myself in support of the Fellowship, like singing in our new choir, and benefit from the many activities and classes available. I’ve been in Durango only a short time and it’s been a large part of making this home.
Shortly after joining the Fellowship… (more…)

I’ve been a member for a couple of years now and the supportive, open, loving nature of this Fellowship continually amazes me; the accepting, non-judgmental attitude of the congregation.
The people were what drew me initially, and I’ve grown to see us so much more for our similarities than our differences. Our relatively new minister Katie, has really galvanized this group, brought new energy and purpose to our congregation, brought out the best in all of us and certainly attracted new members. I think people have varying curves with the acceptance of a Fellowship or church, some embrace it and it’s principles immediately, and for others there’s a growth period and then a realization of the special gift that it is. I’m glad I found it.

I moved to Durango from Oregon in July 2013.  I was raised in a UU church, but I had not been a church goer in all my adult years.  I’d had community which often overlapped with my eclectic spirituality.  Church didn’t appeal to me. Didn’t need it… (more…)

I find it refreshing to have a real CHOICE for Sunday morning church service. It was the variety and relevance of weekly sermon topics that first attracted me to the UUFD. Then I found the people to be friendly, welcoming, interesting, generous and accepting. This fellowship offers a thoughtful alternative to more-traditional church religious worship.

I came to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango when I found myself wanting the support and connection of a community that values the quest for meaning and spiritual growth, rather than expecting a particular set of beliefs or creed.  I wanted to be with others who share a concern for the well-being of our world, and desire to act with hope and love to do what is possible.  And I wanted to build relationships with people who are open, accepting and… (more…)
