Siting solutions emerging

The Building Engagement Task Force, in collaboration with Nunn construction’s value engineering team and Elizabeth Boone, our architect, began working on a new campus design this week. The meeting focused on the new Fellowship Hall, lobby, parking layout, Bowman ADA entrance, Columbine building access, and budget realities. The design team presented a revised north-south fellowship hall site plan creating a u-shaped campus that preserves more courtyard space, improves integration of Columbine into the campus with better flow between buildings, and avoids costly modifications to the sanctuary roof. The committee generally viewed the new concept as an improvement but identified several issues requiring further study, particularly budget, accessibility, childcare access, solar design opportunities, and security. The committee viewed this meeting as productive and believes the project is moving closer to a workable solution. We hope to present this site plan to the congregation by the end of June.

Our membership has changed slightly. Sheryl Guy is leaving the Task Force due anticipated unavailability. Please thank her for her contributions to getting to this point. Barbara Hawn has joined the Task Force, bringing us her professional architectural expertise and experience as a member of the recent Bowman Hall Task Force.
