Recital Series 2024-2025

Unfortunately, the first recital scheduled for Sept. 27 had to be cancelled.  Various attempts to find a substitute failed because of schedule conflicts and lack of preparation time.  Thus, the first recital will not take place until Nov. 22, 2024–a solo piano recital presented by Marilyn Garst.  The program will feature some of Marilyn’s beloved works from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries by Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, Claude Debussy, and Boris Papandopulo.

The next recital is scheduled for Feb. 28, 2025, and will feature Richard Silvers, violin, Brandon Christianson, violin, and Mika Inouye, piano.  The program is centered around three trios for the unusual combination of two violins and piano.  It will include a joyful and lyrical set of dances by  Dmitri Shostakovich (unusual for this composer), a monumental and gratifying romantic trio by the masterful but relatively unknown Norwegian composer Christian Sinding, and ending with the virtuosic pyrotechnics of Pablo Sarasate’s classic “Navarro.”  Silvers and Christianson will also present Sergei Prokofiev’s beautiful and fiendishly difficult “Duo” for two violins.

The final recital will take place on May 2, 2025, with Lori Lovato, clarinet, Frank Murry, bass, assisted by Marilyn Garst, piano.  In the program described as “Colors of Jazz,” you will hear jazz colors from Claude Debussy, George Gershwin, to Philip Parker.  After intermission, relish a few Benny Goodman tunes and Latin favorites as Lori and Frank break away from their symphonic routine and delight in some toe tapping fun.

Admission for the three individual recitals will be available at the door and on line at this website.
