Want to know about our faith and our congregation?

Unitarian Universalism (UU) is an open-minded, open-hearted liberal religion that helps people lead lives of justice, love, learning and hope by covenanting together to support each other in searching for truth and meaning.  Proud to be part of a covenantal tradition – in contrast to doctrinal or creedal faiths – we are deeply committed to common values centered in love: justice, equity, transformation, pluralism, interdependence, generosity.

Our congregation includes about 150 members who are diverse in education and professions, working and retired, socially liberal, very diverse financially, and with many variations of religious tradition and belief. We enjoy spending time together both socially and in partnership on events supporting the church and the local community. We value diversity, active and committed volunteerism, our welcoming friendliness, and our sense of community and social justice. Officially recognized by the Unitarian Universalist Association as a Welcoming Congregation, we are deeply committed to practices of radical inclusion that honor and include everyone, whatever their gender identity, sexual orientation, or gender expression.

Want to know about our Durango community?

Durango, Colorado, (approximate 19,000 people, 6,500 ft above sea level) has a thriving music, art and theatre scene. It’s also a center for outdoor recreational pursuits including fishing, boating, kayaking, river rafting, ice skating, ice hockey, walks along the Animas River Trail, and is known for its mountain biking community and ski resorts nearby. Our community benefits from the presence of Fort Lewis College, a small, public liberal arts college where students of color represent more than half the student body. Many of the college’s educational events are open to the public. We like to say that we live where other people come for vacation – join us!
