Days for Girls, whose mission is to “create a more dignified, free and educated world through access to lasting menstrual hygiene solutions” by creating menstrual hygiene kits, announces its next Sew Day is Wednesday October 18th from 1-4 at Bowman Hall at UUFD. There will be sewing and non-sewing activities. Please call Susan to RSVP at 970-259-5380.
In addition, there is an opportunity to donate items to El Paso and Juarez shelters. Below is a list of things needed at the shelters. If you have or can gather any of these items, please ONLY bring them to Bowman Hall during our Sew Day on the 18th. We will be there between 12:15 and 4:00.
Items needed:
St. Francis asks for: canned goods: corn, green beans, etc. Coffee creamer, foam coffee cups, Italian and Ranch Dressing, Gallon Ziploc Brand freezer bags. Other items for shelters: granola bars, Nido, rice, pinto beans.
Used or new: bath towels, diapers, sweatshirts or hoodies and jackets. Otherwise, everything else should be new. There are babies so anything in very good condition. (receiving blankets, onesies) If you have any tote bags, you don’t need , they are welcome too.
For the street migrants: Used blankets, water and granola bars. We can always purchase water in El Paso. Toys for the kiddos.
Please do not feel obligated to bring anything but yourselves if you are able to come on the 18th!
