In These Hands: A Humanist Vision of Sacred Responsibility

What if holiness lives not in heaven, but in human hands? Drawing on Adrienne Rich’s Final Notations, Megan Dugan will explore how Humanism offers a path of meaning, care, and awe—rooted not in belief, but in the choices we make and the lives we touch.

Megan Dugan is a third-generation lifelong Unitarian Universalist, a mother of three, a partner to Jason, and the step-granddaughter of the Reverend Russell W. Lockwood—known to many as “the Bishop of the Southwest.” Megan is a social worker, writer, and Sylvia Plath scholar, currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at the University of Denver with a focus on trauma, relational healing, and justice-rooted care. Her life is threaded with poetry, parenting, and the daily practice of holding space for transformation.

At UUFD, she co-facilitates the Our Whole Lives (OWL) program and brings her heart to multigenerational learning rooted in honesty, joy, and reverence for becoming.
