Unitarian Universalists sit atop a long tradition of homegrown spiritual wisdom. The American Transcendentalists (Ralph Waldo Emerson, Margaret Fuller, Elizabeth Peabody, Theodore Parker and others) all sought truth from looking both inward and outward to the great book of nature. Pre-eminent among them was Henry David Thoreau.
In this six week reading course based on Barry Andrews’ Thoreau As Spiritual Guide, we will dive into sections of Walden to discover what we can learn from this apostle of simplicity.
Please contact revgary@durangouu.org to register and receive your reading assignments.
Participants will need access to a copy of Walden but need not purchase Barry Andrew’s study guide.
