What We’ve Lost and What We Love

In his remarks marking the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, President Barack Obama highlighted the words of Unitarian minister Theodore Parker: “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” As we reflect on Independence Day, we return to Parker’s words, grieving the losses of the past few years while also holding tight to what we love about the American experiment in democracy.
