Tutors Needed for LaPlata County Jail Inmates

Want to have an impact? The Durango Adult Education Center runs a GED (high school equivalency) tutoring program for inmates at the La Plata County jail. Studies show that participants in education programs are 43% less likely to return to prison. You can make a huge difference in the lives of these people by providing one on one assistance, and you don’t need to be an expert-just be able to read and explain ideas. They need tutors in math, science, social studies and language arts. Access to the jail and inmates requires training, which is provided by the Adult Education Center. Contact Deborah Lycan to hear more about her experience or for help getting connected.  lycan@lclark.edu
