In 1990, at 46 and 52 years old respectively, we had hourly jobs, no savings, and a big dream to build a house that would be sustainable and beautiful. We picked a place, a piece of land financed on a handshake, and determined to build a home out of automobile tires and aluminum cans, as an Earthship. How did we build our new way?
